Check out the photos below: A recent customer needed us to tear out a poorly installed tile shower that was not waterproofed correctly and had caused significant water damage. We were able to remove the old shower, fix the problem and repair the water damage, and install a new custom tile shower with a Schluter waterproofing system to restore the space!

Burst Copper Water Pipe Due to Uninsulated, Frozen Hose Bib

The Issue:

After the demolition was completed and the water damage repaired and new plumbing connections made for the shower valve and riser, we installed mildew resistant greenboard to the studs. Some tile installers still use cement board, but it’s heavy, dusty and expensive, and completely unnecessary! Too many tile installers still tell unsuspecting customers that cement board, mortar and grout make a shower waterproof, but that is absolutely false. With the Schluter System, you can use their Kerdi board for your structure, or greenboard and then cover and seal with their waterproofing membrane, which is what we used for this project.

Final Remodel:

New custom tile shower with Schluter profile strips in black matte, new shower trim in black matte, new shower door, and new luxury vinyl flooring. Customer reused the vanity and toilet, which we pulled and reset. Also includes subfloor and carpentry repairs to remove water damage.
